Everything begins with a continuous gesture that follows the topography without imposing itself upon it. The line rises, descends, folds and changes direction, responding to the natural terrain until, almost imperceptibly, it ceases to be a stroke and becomes architecture.
The envelope emerges from the landscape as if it had always belonged there. Roof, façade and ground are no longer understood as separate elements, but as the expression of a single movement. There are no interruptions, only a continuous flow that transforms the terrain into living space.
Every change in level redefines the experience of moving through the house. Spaces unfold naturally, views are gradually revealed, and light accompanies an architecture that never stops flowing.
Spline House rests upon the mountain, and it is the mountain itself that ultimately draws the house.
